About
Chelsea Seid
Plant lover, gardener, and the person behind GardenSeid.

Hi, I'm Chelsea Seid.
My love of plants began early, learning from my grandmothers and my mother, who both shared a deep appreciation for gardening and caring for plants. Being around them taught me that tending plants is not just about keeping something alive—it's about patience, observation, and care.
While living in California, I developed a deeper interest in indoor plants, where greenery is such a natural part of everyday living spaces. Being surrounded by homes filled with plants inspired me to begin building my own collection.
Many of the plants in my home today have been with me since 2017, when I first began growing houseplants in a small New York City apartment. Over the years that collection has grown into hundreds of plants, largely through propagation and dividing existing plants. Watching plants grow, multiply, and change over time has become one of my favorite parts of caring for them.
When I moved to Atlanta and bought my first home, my passion expanded outdoors. With the inspiration of my twin sister, a flower farmer, I began building a garden from scratch.
Within a few years, the garden grew from a Georgia clay rectangle into a diverse landscape including:
- ✦Cut flower gardens
- ✦Rose and peony beds
- ✦Perennial cottage gardens
- ✦Tropical beds
- ✦A cactus garden
- ✦Six raised vegetable beds
Today my home and garden are filled with plants—inside and out. Our home is also shared with two dogs, reptiles, an indoor aquarium, and a small backyard pond. Life is full and sometimes chaotic, especially with two young children running through the garden and house.
For me, that's part of the beauty of it.
Plants and gardens have become a way to teach my children about nature and the world around them. Through plants, they're learning where food comes from, that bees are pollinators who won't bother you if you leave them alone, and how to appreciate the natural world around them.
Over the years, I've learned that plant care is equal parts knowledge, observation, and experimentation. Even well cared for plants can struggle sometimes, and that's part of the process.
GardenSeid exists to help people learn how plants work so they can build confidence, experiment, and enjoy the process of gardening. Plants bring life, beauty, and curiosity into everyday spaces—and with a little understanding, anyone can learn to grow them.
